Defintion Poem

What is a ________ _______?

A symbol of understanding
A way to see the world
And show the world who we represent
But what is the _______ ________?
For a young misfit
A nation of barely five decades
Made of immigrants
With a really short history
What constitutes history?
What is a _______ ________?
But a social construct
An artificial symbol
For a nation made up
Of odds and ends
Or perhaps just an attempt
To create meaning
Perhaps the question is not
What is our _____ _______?
But the age-old fundamental
Question of who we are.

Definition Poem

The __________

What is a __________?
Its head, small and furry; about the size of your fist;
Its body, covered in hair; many colours and patterns;
Its tail, long as your elbow; pointed up or down;
Its teeth, sharp and pointed; doesn't bite unless it is bothered;
Sleeping, lazily- any table, any chair;
At night, likes to travel; but not too distant;
Likes to sleep and eat; somewhat lazy;
Can live in the wild or in people's homes;
Stubborn, but determined and willed;
Able to survive a fall, a few stories high.

The __________

What is ______?
Its mouth, devours everything in its path;
Its body, able to grow to heights of even the tallest trees;
Its legs, impossible to outrun;
Its arms, able to reach almost anything;
It wears bright clothes of blue, red and orange;
Its breath can be gentle and welcoming, but also scary and deadly;
Its mind, selfish and hungry;
Its face is scary but can be the most amazing thing to look at;
Its feet, silent and powerful;
It makes almost no noise, but when it does it is familiar to the ear;
It becomes born easily, but doesn't die so easily...

                 What is _____?

                          It is the colour of dusk;
                          And a shadow;
                          And a burnt place;
                          No anger and hope;
                          It is evil;
                          Evil within it's dark magic;
                          And it is worn for death;
                          The grief look of a person;
                          And breathes, the polluted air;
                          Coal is dark;
                          In a satisfying way;
                          They wear dark clothing;
                          When they act suspicious;
                          The skins of people, with this shade;
                          Need more freedom;
                          Having reasons to explore peace;
                          And, no grease on their food.....

The __________

Who is __________?
His body, tall, and slim; 6 feet in entertainment; 15 feet in proofs
His head, nothing but a skull and a pale patch of skin; he is faceless
His arms, crooked, and welcoming to children, at least, those who act like coofs
His legs, raceless

His tentacles, terrifying and cold
His breath, loud and calm
Approaching you, your vision is worn and old
Walking, is almost unnoticeable, even with a flashlight in your palm
His weakness, the discovery of possibly eight signs
Dressed, he prefers a shiny, pitch black tuxedo
Located in the forest; he likes it quiet, writing poem lines...

Graphic Organizers - Religion and Renaissance

Religion Graphic Organizer -

Star 1 - It was only main points, we didn't write notes, and we only had pictures and titles for the pictures.
Star 2 - It was very simple and not complicated, making it easy for our audience to follow along.

Wish - I wish that we had added a few more pictures, I would wish too  improve on this because this would've made it even easier for the audience to follow along with our speech.

Renaissance Graphic Organizer -

Self Assessment - I don't think that I did as well as I could have done on this project. When writing down points, I didn't put it into point form. I just wrote whatever I had in my notes (which was full sentences). I put in a couple of graphic organizers (charts, venn diagrams) and a few visuals. I think that I should've added more graphic organizers. I think that it was decently organized, although I didn't add any colour/colour coding(besides the visuals).

Deserved Grade - C+ - B
I think that I deserve this  because I only used a couple of graphic organizers and I didn't colour code it. My project also doesn't look that appealing. Although it has organization and at least has some graphic organizers. It also has a few visuals. I'm pretty sure that I only followed the criteria a little bit. I referred to it at times where I didn't know what to put, although or the most part I kind of winged it.
I learned that the more effort that you put into a graphic organizer (or anything), it's going to look and be a lot better. I learned that you shouldn't wait until last minute to finish it because it won't be as good as if you started it earlier. For what the graphic organizers were for, I was more proud of my religion graphic organizer because we used colours and visual aid. I also didn't procrastinate on my religion poster and I honestly think that I put more effort into it.

Religion Project/ Renaissance Project Reflections

My Religion Project: 'Shintoism'

Intention:
 - Be able to represent the characteristics of a religion visually, and literally.
 - Be able to make viewing of the poster, simple, and understandable.

Two Stars On:
 - Simplicity of layout, easy to coordinate categories, Info. etc.
 - Reasonable Bibliography

One Wish On:
 - Presenting. I wish I could've been more clear about sacred text, and how they didn't have one at all. I have noticed that because of this, Ms. Lees was having a little trouble figuring out, if the Shintos had a sacred text or not.

Picture Of Work:

My Renaissance Project

Intention:
 - Be able to graphically organize and categorize the main points of the Renaissance.

Self - Assessing
 - I would assign myself a low "A," because I have categorized properly, and precisely, as well as detailing the main points of the Renaissance. However, I have not 'explored' different types of graphs. My points were written small at the top, but I underestimated my spacing, and had no choice but to make the points at the end larger. I have included most of the expectations, except the organization, which is of the end of all my points.

Picture Of Work:

What I Learned From The Two Assignments:
 - I have learned I must always outline my work properly, before I fineline, colour, etc.
 - I have learned that it is harder to graphically organize a web, accordingly to the space provided.

What I Am Most Proud Of:
 - The colour coding, and its consistency in the Renaissance project.
 - Finishing the Renaissance project on time (I didn't have to stay up so late. Yay!).
